Update 01/2015 STABILITY: I've used Final IK for a year now, and it has become an _indispensable_ part of my project.
I haven't had any issues with stability/bugs for at least 6 months now, although Final IK is still technically in beta. PHILOSOPHY: The philosophy behind Final IK is great; it provides various kinds of high-level IK solutions that can be made to fit almost any scenario (humanoid or 9-legged monster, IK for aiming or for grounding, fully procedural animations or just slight adjustments, you name it). This is unlike Unity's IK, which is intransparent, barely configurable, and confined to humanoids.
